We want to shine a light on a group at Empower Language Academy that works so hard behind the scenes for our entire school community: our Parent Teacher Organization!
Without the support of our dedicated PTO, we could not achieve what we do for our students. Empower’s PTO–packed with parents and caretakers who are invested in our children’s success –comes together to work for our common goals. They are our greatest ally when it comes to achieving curricular and fundraising goals, not to mention all the joy they are responsible for bringing to our school!
PTO raises funds, organizes events, coordinates volunteers, supports teachers to find items and resources they might need for the classroom and so much more! Our group of volunteers makes rich connections with our local community and draws from the wealth of brilliant minds and organizations. Their commitment to our school and greater community makes Empower a special place to be.
What’s on the Agenda?
Each month of school, PTO is planning to hold an event, a fundraiser, and a spirit day! Every event will be broadcast through ParentSquare and on our school website one month before it happens. We want to be flexible and adaptable to the ever-changing situation with COVID.
Here’s what is still ahead for the month of October:
- School Picture Day October 19
- Free dress day – send your student to school looking their best.
- PTO Meeting October 21 at 5pm
- Agenda will be Red Ribbon Week Activities and Penny Wars event. Look for the link to the Zoom meeting to be posted on the Empower events calendar. A reminder will be sent out on the day of the meeting. All parents are invited to attend.
- Red Ribbon Week October 25-29
- We have a whole week of activities planned!
- Monday – Wear ALL Red
- Tuesday – Bring a Red snack
- Wednesday – Red Friendship bracelets- buddy activity
- Thursday – Door Decorating Contest
- Friday – Red Ribbon Week Assembly (Halloween costumes may be worn to school – remember that we are a healthy school and no candy is to be brought to school or distributed – Thank You)

Due to COVID restrictions, Empower is able to welcome volunteers on campus only for essential purposes. We miss our parent volunteers and are trying to find a way to safely and intentionally bring back this valuable program. There will be opportunities to join us in the building, but we will have to share that time in order to prevent overcrowding and the spread of the virus.
Should I join PTO?
Maybe you are curious about PTO but feel nervous about joining a new group. Or maybe you are worried that you’ll get in over your head with an already busy work and family schedule. Our PTO has a job for everyone, no matter your time commitment. We want you to join us and we won’t overburden you–you are welcome to help out in a way that works best for you. All hands on deck means a lighter load for each of us!
Not only does joining PTO support our school, but it also sends a message to your child that you value their education and are a part of their future—they will be so proud to say “My mom helped do this!”
